If you are talking about the knights and cannons on the ice then that is the Gulf of Finland and what happened was that around this time the [Teutonic order](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teutonic_Order) lost most of its possessions outside of the Holy Roman Empire. Sweden and Russia (Moscovie) both wanted a piece of the realestate that just beame available so they fought a series of wars over the old Teutonic lands which overall ended pretty well for Sweden and not so good for Russia.
Although in the long run this is pretty much what started the longstanding rivalry between [Denmark and Sweden](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlTukY9fV9Y) because Denmark made historical claims on all the parts that Sweden annexed and that sort of pissed them off. This led to 200 years of Sweden being sandwiched, not in [a good way](http://elitedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/elite-daily-threesome1.jpg), between hostile Russia and hostile Denmark. The many subsuquent wars of liberation worked out really well and Sweden gained a lot of ground [some of which is still occupied](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sk%C3%A5neland) by Sweden. Then Russia became a regional superpower and “liberated” eastern Sweden so Sweden became very sad and started making furniture and välfärd instead of war.
